About us

By the Blind, For the Blind

Baglung Association for the Blind

Baglung Association for the Blind is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering blind and visually impaired individuals in Baglung District, Nepal. Our focus is on promoting independence, dignity, and equal opportunities for people with visual impairments through education, advocacy, skills development, and community support.

We believe that visual impairment should never limit a person’s potential. Every individual has the right to live independently, access quality education, and participate fully in society.

Who We Are

We are a group of committed individuals, including persons with visual impairment, caregivers, educators, and social workers, who work together to create a more inclusive and accessible community. Our organization is guided by the principle that meaningful change happens when people with lived experience are part of decision-making and leadership.

Our Objectives

Support the education of blind and visually impaired students.
Promote vocational and life skills for independent living.
Raise awareness about disability rights and inclusion.
Advocate for accessible infrastructure and services.
Encourage equal participation in social, economic, and cultural activities.

What We Do

We carry out a range of activities aimed at improving the quality of life for visually impaired people in our community.

Education Support

We assist students with learning materials, guidance, and encouragement to continue their studies in inclusive environments.

Skills Training

We organize training programs that help individuals develop practical skills such as mobility, communication, digital literacy, and income-generating activities.

Advocacy and Awareness

We work with local communities, schools, and institutions to promote understanding, accessibility, and equal rights.

Community Support

We provide counseling, peer support, and information to help individuals and families navigate challenges related to visual impairment.

Our Approach

We believe in participation, inclusion, and self-reliance. Our approach is centered on empowering individuals rather than creating dependency. We encourage leadership from within the visually impaired community and promote active involvement in all our programs.

Our Commitment

We are committed to building a society in Baglung where no one is left behind because of disability. We continue to work with local stakeholders, organizations, and volunteers to create lasting positive change.
